HealthSource RI Releases Enrollment, Demographic and Volume Data Through March 8
PROVIDENCE – HealthSource RI has released enrollment data, certain demographic data and certain volume metrics through March 8, 2014.
Enrollment data (Oct. 1, 2013 through March 8, 2014)
Total HealthSource RI enrollments (including those who have not yet paid): 19,690
Paid enrollments: 16,345
Medicaid enrollments (per EOHHS): 48,602
Small employer applications initiated: 1,132
Small employer enrollment: 133 (these 133 employers represent 491 covered employees and 795 covered lives)
Small employers who enrolled in Full Employee Choice: 74
“The data show that HealthSource RI has successfully helped many Rhode Islanders access affordable health care coverage through each of the three access streams that it targets: private plan enrollments, enrollments through the expansion of Medicaid and small employer enrollments,” said Christine Ferguson, director of HealthSource RI. “As we approach the March 31 end of the open enrollment period for individuals and families, HealthSource RI is pushing hard to get the word out to Rhode Islanders that the time to enroll is now and continues to reach out to small employers, who can enroll at their regular renewal date at any time during the year.”
In addition, HealthSource RI has released the following demographic data regarding enrollees:

Note about data reconciliation: It is important to know that queries of the system run at different times and on different days may produce different sets of data as people move through various stages of the application and enrollment process. Data in this release reflects reconciled numbers through March 8, 2014; therefore, these numbers may differ slightly from numbers reported in prior releases.

In addition, HealthSource RI has released certain volume metrics to demonstrate the level of interest Rhode Islanders have shown in accessing affordable health insurance coverage through HealthSource RI. Since October 1, HealthSource RI has reported:
Contact Center calls received: 218,850
Contact Center walk-in visits: 19,873
Total website visits: 569,885
Total unique website visits: 475,583
The open enrollment period for individuals ends on March 31, 2014. Small employers may enroll at their renewal date, regardless of where that date falls in the calendar year.
Coverage began on Jan. 1, 2014. Individuals must enroll and pay by March 23, 2014 for coverage that begins on April 1. Medicaid-eligible individuals may enroll throughout the year.
